Many capable people can explain a recurring problem with unusual accuracy. They know the history, the trigger, and the story they tell themselves about what happened.
Then pressure arrives. The body tightens. A familiar role appears. The person withdraws, controls, appeases, or escalates before the explanation can become a choice.
The issue is not that insight is useless
Insight can bring dignity and orientation. It can help someone stop treating a repeated pattern as a permanent character verdict.
The harder question is where the pattern actually begins. What happens before the polished account? What does the body do? What position does the person take? What protection arrives first?
A different response needs somewhere to start
Useful work does not discard understanding. It brings understanding closer to the live moment, where a small change in timing, contact, or response can become possible.
That change usually looks ordinary: saying the thing that would normally be swallowed, staying present where someone would normally disappear, or noticing the signal before the old move has taken over.
